![]() Under Basic, Microsoft blocks trackers it thinks are potentially harmful, while allowing others that are intended to personalize your web content and ads. At launch, Microsoft Edge offers three levels of tracking prevention, Basic, Balanced, and Strict. Unfortunately, separating the two isn't always easy. The trackers, which collect data about how you interact with a site, includes a mix of good and bad actors. In Microsoft Edge, you get to decide how much free rein web trackers have while you're surfing. While nothing is 100 percent secure, Microsoft is doing its part to push its Edge browser closer to absolute security through tracking prevention and a so-called SmartScreen tool. Hackers will always target web browsers and I don't expect that will ever change. Thanks to you both for posting! I'll circle back once I hear any news on this situation.Microsoft Edge tracking (Image credit: iMore) Summoning the commenter! u/drygnfyre - Since you seem to be able to get the website to work above, I encourage you to send in regular feedback via the menu path I provided to ensure your voice is added to the chorus. Using a similar site is how I troubleshoot these issues on Windows, so it will be beneficial to the team to see what you are seeing with this. To help with the investigation, we'd love it if you can submit feedback recreating this experience using the push notifications site you used. This is something that the team is aware of, so I've shared this thread with them. Hey, friend! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experience here. This bug has really broken my workflow and I've been forced to switch to Firefox. I've tried to troubleshoot by disabling all the extensions and reinstalling the browser multiple times, both of which did not fix the problem. I've got uBlock Origin, Bitdefender TrafficLight, Universal Bypass, Bitwarden Password Manager and the Reddit Moderator Toolbox extensions installed. I think that the Edge desktop notification system on macOS is just broken, when trying to test notifications via this website: even with me giving the website permissions to send notifications, the notification never comes through. ![]() I've verified that this is not a problem with the extension as the extension (with the exact same default configuration) works fine under Firefox. However, if I'm using Edge on macOS Big Sur, even if there's several items in the modqueue, the notification NEVER comes. I will use the Reddit moderator toolbox extension as an example, basically whenever a post or comment gets reported or flagged, it gets sent to the modqueue and it sends the moderators a desktop notification saying that there are items in the modqueue. Microsoft Edge Stable 89.0.774.76 (64 bit) macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 (20D91) Edge notifications are ALLOWED under System Preferences > Notifications, but for some reason Edge is listed twice? Site notifications are ALLOWED under Settings > Cookies and site permissions.
